Outdoor Ethics Guide

  • Attend a minimum of 50% of all troop meetings, PLCs, campouts, service projects
  • Explain Outdoor Ethics related rank advanced requirements for the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks
  • Demonstrate how to practice the Outdoor Code, and the Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly! principles to meet advancement requirements
  • Help the troop plan and conduct an effective Outdoor Ethics program
  • Help the troop understand and plan conservation activities
  • Help Life Scouts understand, plan, and carry out activities or projects meeting conservation service hour requirements
  • Encourage Scouts to complete Outdoor Ethics Awards and Merit Badges
  • Prepare Den Chiefs to share Outdoor Ethics principles with Cub Scouts
  • Complete LNT Trainer and Tread Lightly training if possible
  • Provide a minimum of two 15 Minute Outdoor Ethics Training sessions during the appointment period
  • Execute one conservation service project during the appointment period
  • Help to improve fellow Scouts’ outdoor ethics and decision-making skills
  • Serve as a member of the Patrol Leaders’ Council
  • Provide a TO Report to the SPL at each PLC either oral if you attend or written if you are not there
  • Inform the SPL if you are not going to make an event and find a replacement
  • Set a Good Example
  • Wear the Scout uniform correctly
  • Live by the Scout Oath and Law
  • Show and help develop Scout spirit
